Add a Feedback Widget to Shopify

Pintelly adds a visual feedback button and store analytics to a Shopify theme with one script tag. Shoppers and your team can pin a comment on any product or checkout-adjacent page, with a screenshot attached.

Before you start, add the site as a project in Pintelly and copy its installation snippet from Project Settings. It looks like this:

Add the script to your theme

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
  2. Next to your live theme, open the … menu and choose Edit code.
  3. Under Layout, open theme.liquid.
  4. Paste the Pintelly snippet just before </head> and click Save.

Duplicate the theme first if you want to test on an unpublished copy. Use the theme's Preview to check the widget before publishing it.

What this covers

theme.liquid wraps the storefront pages your theme renders: home, collections, products, cart, pages and blog. Shopify's own checkout pages do not load theme code, so the widget does not appear there.

When you change theme

The script lives in the theme, so a newly installed theme does not have it. Repeat the steps above on the new theme before you publish it.

Check that it works

  1. Open the live site in a private window, so no cache or signed-in state hides the change.
  2. The feedback button should appear in the corner of the page. Click it, pin a comment on any element and send it.
  3. Open the project in Pintelly. The feedback item should be there with its screenshot, and the visit should show up under Analytics within a minute.

If the button doesn't appear, open the browser console. A Content Security Policy error means your site must allow https://pintelly.com in script-src and connect-src. If there is no error, a caching or script-optimization layer may still be serving the old page: clear it and reload.
