Every record type in one query, plus whether mail is protected by SPF and DMARC and whether www resolves.
What this DNS check actually does
We query the authoritative answers for A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA and CAA from our resolver, then read SPF out of TXT and DMARC from _dmarc.
A domain that resolves, has two name servers and a valid SOA passes. Mail records are only scored when MX exists. Pintelly's main product is the feedback widget.
What we look at
Address records
A, AAAA or CNAME must exist. www should resolve too.
Delegation
Two or more NS and an SOA record.
Exactly one SPF, a DMARC policy stricter than none. Skipped when there is no MX.
Optional
IPv6 and CAA are reported as information.
How it works
Type a domain
Apex or subdomain. Private IPs are refused.
We resolve
One query per record type, in parallel. Results are cached for 30 seconds.
You see the records
Values as returned, plus a pass/warn/fail per check.

Is this free?+
Yes. Five lookups per domain per day. No account.
Why does my new record not show?+
Propagation. Our resolver may cache the old answer until the TTL expires.
Why is SPF a warning?+
The domain has MX but no v=spf1 TXT. Receivers cannot tell your mail from spoofed mail.
Do you store the results?+
Only the score and the host, for abuse monitoring. Record values are not stored.
