What this ping test actually does
We resolve the host, send four ICMP echo requests from our server and time the replies. If ICMP is filtered we fall back to timing a TCP connect on the site's port.
This is latency from our probe location, not from your visitors. Under 100 ms is good, zero loss is expected. Pintelly's main product is the feedback widget.
What we look at
Reachability
At least one reply. None means down or filtered.
Packet loss
Any loss is a warning; half or more fails.
Round-trip time
Average under 100 ms passes, under 300 ms warns.
Jitter
Spread between fastest and slowest reply.
